SASACC

Overview

The South African Sports Angling and Casting Confederation (SASACC) is the governing body and controlling body of competitive angling in South Africa. SASACC is thus custodians of the angling sport in South Africa and is affiliated to the is the SA Olympic Committee (SASCOC) as well as the international Confederation of Sport Fishing (CIPS) and the international angling federations namely FIPS-M for saltwater disciplines, FIPSed for freshwater disciplines and FIPS-Mouche for the fly-fishing discipline. SASACC is also a member of the newly established African Association of Sport Fishing (AAPS). SASACC consist out of 8 national associations and federations of which they participate in about 19 angling disciplines.

SASAA - SA Shore Angling

The 1st association is the SA Shore Angling Association which focus on saltwater shore angling and they’ve got 3 disciplines which is known as the shore angling, surf casting and long distance casting. The association competes internationally in these disciplines.

SADSAA - SA Deep Sea Angling

The 2nd association is the SA Deep Sea Angling Association. This association focus on deep-sea angling in various disciplines which include big game fishing, game fishing, bottom fishing as well as marlin fishing. The association competes internationally in these disciplines.

SALTBAA - SA Light Tackle Boat Angling

The 3rd association is the SA Light Tackle Boat Angling Association. The disciplines which they focused on is a saltwater light tackle as well as freshwater or inland light tackle boat competitions. The association competes internationally in these disciplines.

SABAA - SA Bass Angling

The 4th association is the SA Bass Angling Association which are focusing on bass angling, and they’ve got various sections which include the team trails, individuals and small craft fishing sections. This association participates internationally in these disciplines.

SAALAA - SA Artificial Lure Angling

The 5th association is the SA Artificial Lure Angling Association. They currently have only one discipline in which they participate, and they also participate internationally.

SAFFA - SA Fly Fishing

The 6th association is the SA Flying Fishing Association. This association has also got one discipline in which they participate, and compete internationally.

SAFBAF - SA Freshwater Bank Angling

The 7th federation is the SA Freshwater Bank Angling Federation. This federation has got various disciplines which includes carp angling, bank angling, feeder angling and match angling. The federation competes internationally in these disciplines.

 

SAUFF - SA Underwater Fishing

The 8th federation is the SA Underwater Fishing Federation. This federation has got one discipline in which they participate in, and they also participate internationally.
